Label Text:These volumes are Lesseps' account of an expedition in Russia, where the author served as the Royal interpreter, from September 1787 to October 1788. As most of Marie Antoinette's library was given to the Biblioeque National (in Paris) or the library at Versailles after her ill-fated death by guillotine, only a fraction of the books once in her possession are in collections outside of France.
