Label Text:Block books, in the making of which the text and the illustrations were cut on a solid wood block, were naturally the forerunners of printing, but persisted for about sixty years after the invention of movable type.
This Biblia Pauperum was the last of all the Block Books and the only one done in Italy. The maker was Zoan Andrea Vavassore at Venice about 1510.
