Label Text:Dada in Hannover, Germany was a solo enterprise launched by Kurt Schwitters in 1919. He called what he did "Merz": "Merz stands for freedom from all fetters, for the sake of artistic creation." Anna Blume is his parody of a love poem, mixing clichéd phrases with found text fragments. Schwitters' cover design, highlighting the word "dada", is a kind of visual equivalent to his texts, with its crude technique, fragmentary forms, and abrupt shifts. Anna Blume was an astonishing success for a work intended to abuse its public.
